A meeting was called on the 31st of January2016 by the Secretary of the Alumni Association of Notre Dame Academy, Jamalpur. The place of the meeting was Patna and the venue was the Assembly Room under the NDA Chapel. The humble gathering was presided over by the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association and headed by Sister Vijaya and Sister Lalita. We also solicit the presence of Sister Renita who had come to visit the Patna NDA. The meeting started with a prayer thanking God for all the blessings he has showered on us and more specially for the grand success of our first Alumini Association Meet which was held at NDA, JMP in the month of December 2015. Thereafter the members shared their experiences of the joyful moments spent at Jamalpur during the Alumni meet. Mr Ravi Garg the Secretary of the association shared his experiences about the success of the Career Counseling session organized for about 100 students of class 9 and class 10 at Barh (Patna District, Bihar) on the 23rd of January 2016. The resource persons for this Career Counseling session were Mr Bhupesh Kumar and Mr Sanjay kumar Sharma. Mr Bhupesh Kumar is an engineer by profession and the owner of Lucent International School, while Mr Sanjay kr Sharma is an author connected to the subject Zoology. The members appreciated the able guidance, steadfast companionship, zealous efforts and positive leadership provided by Sister Lalita and Sister Vijaya for steering us in the right direction in serving the society and our Alma mater. All the members then got together to plan activities for the present year. Books worth Rs 20,000/- were donated to the school library as mentioned by a member. A number of good suggestions spiced with tactical planning were put forward by the ingenious minds of our enthusiastic members. Some of the great ideas are listed below. 1) Quiz Competition at the school level. 2) Fund raising activities to build a reasonable corpus for the alumni treasury. 3) Organizing a Fete at the school level. 4) Membership fee for the students of class 10 and class 12 to be Rs 500/-. 5) Raffle to build up the fund. 6) Organizing a Grand Musical Nite at Munger. 7) Drawing Competition. 8) To get sewing machines for the people of the economically weaker section of the society. The sewing machines would be funded/distributed in collaboration with the IDBI BANK. 9) Conducting Health Camps and sponsoring medicines for the underprivileged. 10) Creating a group on Face book and thereby fulfilling our objective of connecting to maximum number of NDA pass outs. 11) To start activities in memory of our Ex-Principals eg: “Sister Mary Thomas Memorial Quiz Contest” to be held in Jamalpur. The meeting ended with a thank you note from Sister Lalita and an assurance from everyone to meet soon. I hope that our dream to make the alumni more vibrant and effective becomes true.
